Categories Molasses / Glycerin
Similar to glycerine, molasses, a waste product from sugar production that can also be simply described as sugar syrup, is used in the shisha sector as a refreshing agent for dry shisha tobacco. In contrast to glycerine, molasses is also available in different flavors and aromas, so that the admixture can be adapted to the respective tobacco.
Refreshing agents such as molasses have proved particularly popular since the moisture content of the shisha tobacco available in Germany has been limited to 5%. As a result, the smoking behaviour is clearly restricted compared to oriental tobacco varieties with up to 30% moisture in some cases. A refreshing of the tobacco helps to achieve the well-known smoking performance.
