Blunts are the ideal paper substitute and are available in countless flavour variations. Blunts made from tobacco leaves are ideal for making or rolling joints and cigarettes. A blunt consists of tobacco - nothing else. The original aim was to introduce cigar smokers to rolling their own cigars, but this failed due to the nature of rolling cigars. To do this, you would have to roll a large number of blunts, i.e. tobacco leaves, into each other, which very few people can even begin to do.

History of the blunt

If you look at the etymology of the term 'blunt', you soon come across a popular American cigar brand of the 1920s and 1930s, 'Phillies Blunt'. This type of cigar was probably best suited to the original purpose of a blunt, which was to disguise the illegal consumption of marijuana behind a cigar wrapper by cutting open the wrapper and replacing the tobacco inside with the intoxicating herb.

Nowadays, you no longer have to use such cumbersome methods to enjoy a blunt. There is now a large selection of pre-rolled blunts that only need to be filled, available in a wide variety of flavours.

The blunt as a cigarette paper

Accordingly, blunts are now used more as a substitute for conventional cigarette paper. In addition to the fact that the smoker does not smoke any foreign material (paper), the enormous variety of different flavours is also the reason why blunts have become increasingly popular in recent years. Another reason for using these practical tobacco leaves: blunts are considerably longer than normal cigarette paper as standard. At 120mm, the standard blunt is 50mm longer than such paper. A blunt is also significantly more tear-resistant than paper.

Rolling blunts

From a purely technical point of view, there is no difference between rolling a cigarette and rolling a blunt. Put the tobacco on, insert a filter at the end (this is much more important with the larger blunt than with the cigarette - otherwise the tobacco is easily pulled out) and roll it up. However, this is made more difficult by the greater length of a blunt leaf compared to cigarette paper. This takes a little practice. However, if you are used to tipping, you should quickly get to grips with it. It gets tricky when closing the blunts. A little spit is enough for tipping, but with blunts you can quickly reach the end of your saliva capacity. Among other things, (completely non-toxic) blunt adhesives, e.g. made from molasses, promise to help.

Flavoured blunts

Initially, blunt leaves consisted of really pure tobacco. Over time, however, more and more different flavours came onto the market, leading to an almost unmanageable variety today. As a rule, all manufacturers have the standard fruity and sweet flavours in their range and never cease to tempt us with new flavours. In addition, there are a number of flavour-intensive blunt stickers that can be used to wonderfully round off the result.
