The tricky part of cleaning a percolator bong is the percolator itself. It's usually fixed permanently inside the pipe, and the smoke, which often carries large amounts of tar and other pollutants, flows through its tiny holes and leaves deposits behind in the percolator.
These fixed percolators are naturally harder to clean than removable ones. Removable percolators are usually attached via a ground-glass joint system and make cleaning both the percolator and the bong far easier. For cleaning the bong there are various household remedies such as denture cleaner, or you can go straight for a professional bong cleaner . Whichever product you choose, the method is always the same: you fill the pipe with the cleaner mixed with warm water and let it soak for a good while.
