Complete sets for nutrient supply + cultivation sets for hydroponic cropsIrrigation: Systems for efficient plant cultivation
The dream of a practical automatic Irrigation system for growing plants at home is not only reserved for large garden owners and professional farmers, but can also become a very real need even for small cultivation areas. Especially if the previous automatic watering system (the gardener with the watering can) wants to go on holiday and the last fence dispute does not allow for any assistance from the neighbour.
A lot of tips are floating around. Sometimes people advise using woollen threads that only release water drop by drop - which can't work because of the low capillary effect of wool - sometimes they recommend sticking an upturned water bottle into the soil, but this is only a good way of preventing root rot (on the plant, not on the wisdom tooth).
Only systems in which the release of water can be at least more or less precisely predetermined, or - even better - the water (or nutrient solution) is only passed on to the plants when required, offer a reasonable degree of safety. In the second case, a certain membrane solution is therefore necessary.
In some systems, this even eliminates the need for a power source, as the timer or automatic control system is no longer required. If you can also dispense with the use of a pump - as with Autopot irrigation, for example, which works completely without an external power source - automatic irrigation is even possible in the most remote corners of the garden.
