Successful growing with rock wool

Anyone who works a lot with cuttings knows that rock wool is a fundamental component of any plant cultivation. Even when growing with seeds, rock wool provides the ideal soil for your protégés. First and foremost, rock wool ensures significantly faster root growth of the plants, which speeds up cultivation considerably and forms the optimum basis for further cultivation. Growing cuttings on rockwool is therefore a top alternative to growing cuttings in the classic growing medium of soil.

Rockwool grow in hydroponic systems

In the form of rock wool mats with a variety of intended placement options, rock wool is also ideal for use in hydroponic systems. The high water and air permeability of rock wool is highly valued by many growers. The significantly lower to de facto non-existent preload from foreign seeds and pests - something that can never be ruled out with soil - is the final deciding factor for many.

Water storage miracle rock wool cube

If you lift a piece of rock wool, you will immediately notice that it is much lighter than you would expect from the outside. The reason lies in the composition of the wool. Only 3-5 % consists of solid substance, the remaining space is available for water or nutrient solution. Incidentally, rock wool blocks or rock wool mats are made from ground and pulverised rock at extremely high temperatures and are therefore almost completely sterile.
